Gastrointestinal cancer. <<Histogen>> Armenian-German scientific center of pathology is the only one in Armenia that performs an MSI examination. But what is MSI examnitaion?
Many types of cancer are characterized by the growth of microsatellite instability. According to opinion, there are two reasons of that instability.
- DNA polymerases are doubled incorrectly, which brings to the length of microsatellites.
- DNA double-strands in cancerous cells are not corrected.
Microsatellite instability is a form of mutation, which occurs during some types of colorectal cancers. These mutations inactivate the genes which are involved in the duplication of DNA polymerases. If there are deviations in these genes, DNA cells are accumulated in somatic mutations, as a result of which these cells turn into malignant. <<Histogen>> Armenian-German scientific center of pathology is the only one in Armenia that performs an MSI examination using the immunohistochemical method. This examination enables to give an accurate diagnosis of the disease, as well as perform rational and target therapy. It enables to personalize anti-tumor therapy and avoid ineffective medication.
